I'm not a total sucker after all!

Ready to be proud of me?

Last night we had our farewell game of RockBand with Dustin before he returns to his lovely wife on Thursday*, so I didn't go to sleep until around 1am. I had to be up early to be at school for healthy snack prep (only 1 week to go!) and was having dreams that we didn't finish playing until an hour before I needed to be at school, so I was not particularly well rested when I got up this morning.

I head into school, cream cheese the celery sticks and head down to the library for my Wednesday morning confab with Flapdoodle. The book fair is being held there currently, and I tried to let Dorian browse, but was interrupted by the woman running it. (A woman with whom I am now on the PTA board.)

"[Hott Mama], do you think you could work this morning? You know, I really need to go to work and our volunteer didn't show up."

"Well, I'm really tired and I need a cup of coffee and then I need to be back here for something at 11:40, so I can't do it."

"But I really should get to work."

At this point, I almost caved and said that I would go get a coffee and come back, but then I realized I don't have to do this shit if I don't want to. And you know what? I didn't want to.

So I didn't.

How liberating!

* I'm happy for her that he's going back, but it's no secret that I wish they were both here with me all the time.

There's a book out called The Positive No. Looks like you figured it out already, tho.

No is a lovely word to employ in the elementary school world. nonononononnonnooonooonoo
