Yesterday, we went over to Amanda and Nathan's for a potluck dinner with their family and Christine's family. The evening started with 5 screaming children "zapping" each other with a piece of paper with a string attached. It then progressed to 5 screaming children eating an amazing dinner of fresh pasta (Go Nathan!) with red sauce and sausage, a salad like I haven't seen since the summer (Christine's yummy contribution) and my 3 seed bread. 5 screaming children run off to scream some more while the adults enjoyed the briefest moment of conversation and then we all had Amanda's delicious apple crisp. Then, the youngest screaming child needed to go to bed so we all moved to the living room for a little......Guitar Hero! Amanda wanted to try it out, so we brought over the old axe. Here you can see Jeremy showing everyone how it's really done by playing "Barracuda" on Hard. The rest of us wimps stuck to Easy. I'm not sure how we'll ever go back to a regular TV after playing on the projection screen, but we'll live.
This was obviously the way to quiet the little devils down (including Nathan). And thank goodness, or Davey would never have been able to sleep. The video game pacifier: guaranteed and endorsed by Hott Mama. We finished off the evening with some Wii tennis, where Jeremy was floored, literally, by Christine's power backhand, and some Wii bowling where Amanda showed the 5 year olds how it's done.
there'll be days like this
the children are short, the days are long
