Out like a lamb

I always thought that the expression about March coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb involved the behaviors of those animals.

You'll be interested to know I have discovered that, in fact, it refers to their appearances, as it snowed again today.

Just wondering what a VT winter resembling a lion would look like?

A VT winter resembles a mangy lion when the snow finally starts melting and all the grass is yellow and matted to the ground. So, I am taking it upon myself to adjust the saying to reflect this.

"In like a mangy lion, out like a snow white lamb."
